Recently, the Pest Management Regulatory Authority (PMRA) of Health Canada approved the sale and use of diflufenac and its formulations SC500, SC600 and SC617, providing Canadian farmers with more efficient weed control options.

Pyflofenac is a selective fatty acid synthase inhibitor herbicide. By inhibiting the activity of phytoene dehydrogenase, carotenoids cannot be synthesized, causing the plant to die. This type of herbicide has a long lasting effect and is a pre-emergence and post-emergence treatment agent. It is mainly used to control a variety of weeds in rice, wheat, barley and other crop fields. The agent is safe for crops.

The active ingredient of SC500 is diflufenac, which is used for pre-planting and pre-emergence weed control of corn and soybeans. It provides early control of redroot pigweed, green pigweed, waterhemp and Palmer amaranth at rates of 120–180 mL/ha, and full-season control at rates of 180–360 mL/ha. (Includes weeds resistant to multiple herbicide modes of action)

The active ingredients of SC600 are diflufenicon and mefenacet, which are used for pre-planting and pre-emergence weeding of soybeans. SC617, whose active ingredients are diflufenac and isoxazofen, is used for pre-planting and pre-emergence weeding of field corn. As combinations of diflufenac and other herbicides, these two products provide broader weed control and address weed resistance issues in corn (field and seed) and soybeans.
